Just saw the "Marine Biologist" episode for the first time

I just saw this episode in syndication for the first time and it was hilarious! But one thing I was wondering about was in the scene with Elaine, Jerry, and the Russian guy (Testlov?) in his apartment I swear I heard Elaine yell out s*it while he grabs her purse because of the beeping noise. Maybe I'm just imagining things or hearing something I'm not suposed to hear, I don't know... If so why did they not edit it out, does anyone know about this?

Yes, you are correct! Elaine does yell out the "s" word, but I believe it was accidental. They never edited it out because it happens so fast I don't think the producers ever really noticed it. I noticed it the first time I saw it...

True, but those were all done without using explicit language. Jerry's stategy in dealing with taboo subjects seems to have been to do it in such a way that the censors wouldn't have a problem with it (like never using the word "masturbation" on the Contest, etc.). To just come out and have Elaine say "sh*t" wouldn't be very artistic, and I think it would be beneath Jerry. Now perhaps Julia did it deliberately to see if she could slip it by the censor (though I doubt it), but I think Jerry and Larry would have gone for something more subtle. Something like what the X-Files did a few weeks back when they used the Spanish word for the "f" word as an episode title. That was pretty funny, and it's incredible the censors (who must not have spoken Spanish) didn't make an effort to find out what "Chinga" meant. That's the sort of thing Jerry/Lavid would have tried...

They've used blatant swearing before....remember during "The Keys" they were all swearing but they made it real quiet and Jerry couldn't hear what they were saying. It was Elaine that did it. She called Jerry an asshole and said that the key mix-up was total bullshit. It was clever how they kept it quiet but you could still hear what they were saying......

Jerry was quoted as saying after he got away with saying "that fat bastard" in the "Junior Mint" episode he knew they could get away with lots more.

I noted the s**t in the "Marine Biologist" and was a little surprised but more surprising was the "Non Fat Yogurt" episode where Jerry and the little boy both say f**k several times, even though it is bleeped out it is quite obvious.

The episode with Jean Paul Jean Paul had a lot of swearing in it too.
