Could someone please tell me which episode is the actual Seinfeld pilot, and it it's shown in syndication?
I've heard that Elaine was not a character then and that Kramer had another name - Hoffman or something. I don't remember this. What is the episode about?

Jen, in the episode in question, Kramer has a dog, his name is never mentioned (the Hoffman rumors are false). Elaine is not in the show. The episode is about Jerry having a woman he has met stay over at his apartment. The woman turns out (much to Jerry's surprise) to be engaged. This is an episode of THE SEINFELD CHRONICLES, and not the actual first episode to be shown of SEINFELD. When SEINFELD premiered as a weekly series, the first episode that aired was the one where Jerry's parents stay over (Jerry's father is played by another actor) and Jerry plays Scrabble with his mother and Kramer insists that "quone" is a word. THE SEINFELD CHRONICLES pilot did air before this, but as a one shot deal (as you often see pilots that have not been picked up as series aired on TV). Hope this cleared things up for you!
