My theory is that Castlerock has a contract for a few years with the syndication outlets NOT to release tapes or DVD's for a few years, so the TV stations get their money's worth. It makes sense. I am guessing 2003.

Wow, I think it is highly unlikely then that the entire series would be released in a double - it would cost a fortune. I guess either way the 40 or so DVD's will cost a fortune. But it will be worth it.

Except that X-files is an hour long show, so each episode of that equals about two of a half hour one. Simpsons has the second season coming along on dvd soon, which is around some 20 episodes, and that's four disks, as well as some extras. With five episodes a disk, we come out at about 36 disks.

"MASH" has 24 episodes per season, which are sold on 3 DVDs. This equals 8 episodes per DVD, so if Seinfeld would be distributed in the same way, it would come up to around 24 DVDs.

It depends on who distributes the dvds.... It's possible to fit plenty of episodes onto each disk. Some companies are really evil about it (Twilight Zone disks have 3 or 4 episodes per disk, no real extras.) And some are generous.

Do you think they'll do a region 2 encode too?

American shows often get released over here before in the US due to syndication stuff and such like.
