Continual stories

I'm sure my topic name isn't the proper term. I just wanted to get opinions on Seinfeld episodes that continue from week to week. There were very few. One of the things I always loved about Seinfeld was that, if you missed last weeks episode, it didn't matter.

There were occasional deviations; and I couldn't stand them. Not because they required more than one episode to follow, but because they were annyingly plot-driven. The two that pop into my mind are the whole "Jerry" show crap (3 or 4 episodes?) and the one where Kramer goes to California.

Does anyone else share this opinion?

I beg to differ...I always enjoyed these types of plots, now maybe that is because of the fact that I enjoy shows like Dallas and Soap, but on going storylines seem fun to me...

There were many threads continued through various episodes - not as part 1 and part 2 like the Cadillac or The Boyfriend or The Trip, but just two episodes that continue a plot line.

I believe The Shoes, The Pitch, The Ticket, The Wallet and The Watch all continue in some order - I still have to tape the last two and then watch them again.

I have an opinion...not the same as yours. That whole jerry show "crap" was an ongoing plot for the fourth season, which in my opinion was the best season. The only time the jerry show plot got annoying was in the contrived final episode in which it just seemed ridiculous. I didn't care too much for the Kramer goes to California plot either.

I liked the 92-93 "Jerry" story but I thought it was kinda cheap to do a show about the show. I was worried it would continue but they ended it just before it went too far. It was getting confusing and I didn't want to see that story go on for years. The Kramer goes to California was good. Most people treat the Keys and The Trip parts one and two, as a trilogy. The Keys would be a good ep for a Kramer spinoff where he goes off on his own and has different adventures. On a spinoff, it would be good for him to go on the road but come home and hang out, from time to time. MR said that a spinoff for Kramer should involve him traveling around much like the Kung Fu series.

No at all. The "Jerry show crap" lasted an entire season, and was part of what made Season 4 the best of the 9. The story lines that span multiple episodes were some of the best the writers have come up with. Like the Crazy Joe Davola episodes, Kramer's jacket, and how about George trying for several episodes to get out of having to marry Susan?

No, the stand alone episodes are fine, but the multiple episode stories
were fabulous.
