Drinking

In the red dot, george "throws up from the hennigans" and jerry says "but you don't drink"... there's an episode (can't remember which one) where both jerry and george are drinking a beer. and I'm sure there are at least 2 other ep's where george is drinking wine.

it's maybe different in the US but does it not count as drinking if it's beer or wine??

on the same line, we only really see elaine drinking in the betrayl when the key to her vault (peach schnapps?) is widley known.

are there any other eps when people are "comedy" drunk?

I think there is a difference in the US between people who drink wine/beer and who drink Scotch.

Scotch is considered "hard liquor" and people will often make that distinction in their own habits ("I only drink wine or beer") and that distinction is probably well understood by the general population here... It's pretty common.

I always thought it was weird - the very few times the characters had a drink. Maybe they didn't want alcohol to cast any doubt over the true personalities of the characters. They wanted them to be the demented people they were - on their own - not because of alcohol. Just a thought.

the one ep where elaine is drunk: seems VERY out of character for her and to some degree the show. the only other ep i can think of that features drinking (well, as part of the story) is the red dot with elaines boyfriend who's off (or should that be on?) the wagon.

there seem to be a lot of show on tv where drinking (to make people do craaaaazy things) is featured and i think it's kinda weak to rely on that as a story......one excpetion being the simpsons because you can get away with a hell of a lot more in animation land....

In "The Little Kicks?" doesn't Elaine relate a story about having "a few too many" at an office party and then making out at the table with a stranger "like our plane was going down"?

But in the marathon runner ep (hey ya sunovabitch...ya bastard!!!) he can barely get a shot of bourbon(or whatever) down.

I believe that's "The Postponement"????? The ep where the rabbi can't keep his trap shut. Elaine is envious 'cuz George is getting married.

Tonight I saw "The Doorman" and when Elaine is trying to concoct a story with Jerry, she then says, "Now fix me a drink"

Also, the time she was in the bar with Keith Hernandez, she seemed like she was feelin' a little loose.

Elaine emerges as a drinker in later episodes. She walks away from Vincent's, the teenage former-video- store clerk, door with a bottle of Vodka. She takes a shot of something after Cary Elwes and Debborah Meesing reunite in... "The Wait-Out"? I remember her walking out of Jerry's apartment with six-pack a dangling from her hand in one episode.

Actually the one with Keith was on here today and it just shows her taking a drink from a half full glass of white wine.
