Viewers debate whether the actress who played George's mother on Seinfeld also appeared on Mad About You in a different role, with most agreeing it's the same actress in separate characters.

I watched Mad About You after Seinfeld last night and when that old lady wanted to try that sweater on Paul, I could have sworn it was George's Mom. But later she said it was for her son Blain (or Blake?). Does anybody know if this was the same actress? They seemed so much alike.

I thought the same thing! I thought I was the only one who noticed this! I'm SURE that it is the same woman, although it was unintentional. That "Mad About You" episode is a re-run (and a very funny episode, I might add), and aired long ago. Long before George's mother made an appearance, so I don't think it was an NBC ploy to see if we are on our toes. Keen obervers, we are!

I don't think it could be George's mom - the woman said that her son wasn't as *round-shouldered* as Paul's Ob/Gyn friend. I think George is definitely round-shouldered.
