George's father

What happened to George's father? They replace him with ever an uglier guy? Why would they do that?

Yep, that was Jerry Stiller. I hope they give him latitude to do his own thing, because Jerry Stiller has always been funny, but not with the lines they gave him last night.

It was Jerry Stiller (husband of Anne Meara....you old Ed Sullivan fans will remember the comedy team of Stiller and Meara!) and father of Ben Stiller. I'll say this for Jerry Stiller as father (over the previous actor, John Randolph): I think he makes more sense. You can more easily see why George has become the character he's become with parents like Jerry Stiller and Estelle Harris.

Yep, that was him allright -- the George Costanza of his day, in some ways....

The previous actor to play the senior Costanza, by the bye, was John Randolph, a very respected stage actor.

personally, i didn't think last night's show was too hot. the "master of his domain" line seemed forced. falling on the hot iron seemed too unrealistic- who'd grab at an iron while falling? it can give you no support. i would have grabbed at the table that the iron was resting on. plus, i wish they'd get rid of that maddening laugh track. --- later, sunil

You can't be serious about expecting Seinfeld to be realistic! I really liked the show.

I agree with you about the laugh track though. I don't know what sitcoms sound like without one, but it has got to be better than the obtrusive LOUD laughs they've been using (this season anyway).

You're right. Everyone knows that the best way to break your fall is by grabbing on to a woman's breasts. Also a good way to find out if they're real (and spectacular.)

Grabbing the iron was an act of God--you know, he'll never let George be successful.
