I watched the new episode on Thursday. I wasn't impressed at all. I will admit that the show as it stands now is better than almost all other sitcoms on TV. But if you compare the new shows to the older syndicated re-runs there is no comparison. Of course I laughed at last nights show. The scene with George talking to the board about all the horrible things he has gone through was funny. But somehow the show seems "forced". The stories seem like they were written. In the past the show was perfectly spontaneous. Now it is filled with predictable jokes, plot lines, and normal sitcom writing. The thing with Elaine and that guy who is always getting hurt by his girlfriends was DUMB. Elaines character is nothing like she used to be. What was she thinking when she stabbed the guy with the fork? That whole deal was just predictable rubbish, a plot line setup to instill a quick laugh without giving thought to the character. The in the past the show has been "dumb", but in the past this "dumbness" was acctually very intellegent. Look back at all the stuff they have done. Most of the time it was dumb, but it had a intellegence behind it. Now the show seems to have run out of ideas. They have Kramer acting like a dog, Jerry in a predictable plot line trying to get rid of Newman. I'm not saying every episode this season has been bad. Remember the "bizzaro Jerry" episode? Instant classic. The season premire wasn't half bad either. The episode with Kenny Rogers Roasters was pretty insane, but it was funny. Last nights episode, like other episodes this year, was full of allot of small, short, predictable laughs. There was the great scene with George, but it ended fast and the show went downhill from there. In the past, every show had a classic scene, with classic quotes that we can all recite. Last nights episode seemed to have resorted to DUMBNESS WITHOUT ANY INTELLEGENCE BEHIND THE LAUGHS. I could spend time trying to make my point bringing up old episodes and comparing them to new ones, but I don't need to. All I need to do to prove my point that the show had decreased in quality is to tell you to watch the old syndicated reruns! That's all you have to do...
