"The Blood"

What does everyone think of this week's new episode? I thought it was a pretty good episode, it kind of got less funny as it went on though. I give it a B.

Not one of my favorites. This is weird, but the shows lately kind of remind of .... I don't know, shows like "The Wayans Brothers" or something. The slo-mo seemed kind of strange, as did Jerry being dragged along a road off-camera. I know a lot of people here like it, but this is definitely a different kind of humor. As usual, I thought Elaine's story was the worst. I enjoyed last week's show more.

I thought tonight's show was horrible.

George used to act in very stupid, sometimes strange, but *understandable* ways. Ways that we could all relate to at one point or another. There's nothing relatable anymore in George's character. There's nothing to associate yourself with anymore.

Elaine has become so mean and bitter. I don't enjoy watching her anymore.

Can we go one week where Kramer doesn't come up with yet another "crazy" idea... I'm getting sick of watching Jerry say every week, "You're going to do what??"

Even Jerry's one liners are starting to sound lame.

Don't get me wrong, even a horrible Seinfeld show is better than 95% of the stuff out there, so I still think its a quality show. The difference between a bad episode and a good one is that I will smile though a bad one, but laugh through a good one.

It's not about characters changing. Of course they should change. Any good sitcom will allow their characters to change and evolve as the years go by. You seemed to have missed my point entirely. There's a difference between a character that changes in ways that you can understand and relate to versus acting in a completely unbelievable and bizarre way. For all of George's rediculous behaviors, you could always understand where he was coming from, and think about things that you have done in your own life because of insecurities and neuroticism. Of course he comes up with crazy ideas. I'm not saying he shouldn't. But again, things have gone too far. You're a little inconsistant too. You tell me to accept change in characters, but you seem just fine having Kramer act in the same way every week. I don't want him to change, but there's a certain line of believability, of suspension of disbelief that the writers have surely crossed.

I love how every time someone trashes an episode, you attack them. The disclaimer is to distinguish myself from a Seinfeld lover and just someone trolling for flames. It is also so that it is clear that I am not trashing the show as a whole, but this particular episode.

Actually, it sucked... I wouldn't say it was still pretty good. It was good in the context that I will watch Seinfeld no matter how bad or good it is because I love the show.

I really enjoy reading intelligent reviews of the show, which is why I read this NG, but I want to pull my hair out over all the people who get hostile and huffy because people didn't like a show. I am soo tired of reading, "Well then don't watch it!" or things insinuating people have some emotional handicap because they can't cope with the way the show has changed. I'm considering leaving this NG because of it, which would be a shame because some of the posts are well-thought an interesting. Also, I - unlike others, apparently - enjoy reading people's opinions that are very different from mine. It doesn't make me mad or feel superior.

I agree that Elaine's stories need work. My husband said to me this morning, "What happened to her hair?" he hates it, it looks unnatural.

But the part in the end where Jerry gets Neuman's blood was hysterical!!!!

Yes, her hair does look a bit unnatural, but I am glad she is not wearing it loooong like she used to. It was too long, she had no bangs, so she used to pull the front part of it back, and tie it on top of her head. It made her head look huge, and her body tiny. I think her hair looked best last season.

Hated it. Worst episode of the season, which is even more disappointing since last weeks was great, I thought. Totally inane. And what the heck were they bringing back the Mandelbaum's for???!?!?!? Oh well. George's subplot was lame. The only bright spot was Kramer.

Best line. Kramer to Jerry: "You know for a fat guy, you're not very jolly!"

that episode ruled. Especially at the end when Jerry screamed, then Kramer screamed, than Newman screamed. It was so funny

I agree this show was HORRIBLE! It could have been a lot funnier if wittier lines were used. I have noticed this season a pattern is developing: a great show....a sucky one....a great show...a sucky one....... Hopefully the next week's show will be good

I thought it was a weak episode. It's hard to complain about the quality of the shows this season.It's been on for what 8 or 10 years , and keeping humor fresh for so long is just about impossible. There have'nt been many sitcoms that were funny right up to the end. Cheers might be the only exception.

So when I say an episode wasn't that funny I'm not complaining just stating an opinion.

You know, my girlfriend and I were talking about that just last night. Cheers was the only show I could think of that really stayed strong and consistent through its duration. Not all the shows were perfect, of course, but the writing was pretty damn good for the duration. I only rarely see the reruns anymore, but when I do, I'm amazed at how well the show holds up.

Coincidentally, that was one of the weaknesses of "The Blood": it was too choppy, especially at the beginning. The other thing that ruined it for me was that it just plain grossed me out. I have a personal thing where I'm really paranoid about neck injuries, and the exacto knife nicking Jerry's jugular made me squeamish. I'm surprised "The Voice" was TV 14 and this episode wasn't, what with all the blood, plus George in bed. Also, the Mandelbaum characters were poorly conceived in the first place, and I could have stood not to see them again. It's a shame Lloyd Bridges got stuck with such a dog of a character. And why was Jerry stupid enough to agree to being tied to the car? What an awful ending!

I was going to tape over it, but I watched it again and there are some pretty darn funny lines, like when Elaine claims she's more responsible than Kramer, and he responds, "That's ridiculous. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go fill my freezer with my own blood." Most of all, the whole cast gave spectacular performance. I'm not sure what it was about this episode, but the acting was especially inspired, and salvaged the lousy premise.

The Seinfeld gang keeps producing hilarious episodes. Although the ending was a bit weak, last night's episode remained funny throughout and the sub-plots were tied together nicely. There were many wonderful pieces of dialogue that made me LOL. I thought the "blood" sub-plot was great! Elaine's bit of turmoil with babysitting was also enjoyable. How can you say the writers aren't creative anymore when they have a storyline dealing with food and sex together?? I loved it! And who couldn't help but ROTFL when Kramer and Neuman were dancing while making sausages! Overall, another strong episode.

My ratings of the first 4 episodes:

The Voice-- B

The Serenity Now-- A-

The Blood-- A-

Oh man, that was funny! The music they were dancing to was hilarious.

As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed Thursday's episode. In this one did anyone besides me see some parodying of the remake of the "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers"? It's been so long since I've seen that movie I can't remember enough particulars to determine if the connection was real or just in my mind, but something about Jerry and Kramer's screaming, the blood transpot, the unauthorized transfusion, and that great sausage scene just kept reminding me of that movie.

I guess you didn't see the other definition of horrible...extremely unpleasant or disagreeable. In fact, in my brand new dictionary it also says: Horrible...SEE Seinfeld's "The Blood" episode.

As in "Your posts are becoming..."

Horrible:  See oj's pathetic attempt at humor.
Give it up, or maybe you and Justin can find a chat room somewhere.
