As promised, I fast-scanned Sunday's _Simpsons_. I couldn't find any scenes in which you could hear Bleeding Gums playing, but there was one scene where you _saw_ him and Lisa playing together. Visually, anyhow, B.G. is playing an alto.

Today's saxaphone question: there was an interview on _News Hour with Jim Lehrer_ with a writer who has a novel out currently, and the novel's protagonist is a bear who plays jazz alto. Apparently this novel won the (mumble)-Faulkner award for this year, an award that is unique in that it is voted on solely by fiction writers -- no critics, no fans.

It sounded very interesting, but unfortunately I didn't tune in early enough to catch either the book's title or author. Anyone help me out here?
