Question😂 Loved it

Fans celebrate the Festivus holiday from the episode by sharing traditional rules and planning their own Festivus dinner with pole, airing of grievances, and feats of strength.

The traditional Kasha dish is required.

Paellea is not allowed and all saffron must be removed from the house during the days of Festivus.

If you are setting up the Pole be sure no Pole has a pony.

A Marble Rye must be on the table but not eaten.

Do not have soup; soup is not a meal.

A BIG salad should be purchased for each guest.

All dips must be dipped twice even though during the year we only dip once. (who gets this one? :-))

Dessert must be a chocolate Babka, cinnamon is a lesser Babka.

Any others?.....

Any others....

Well, I thought the Festivus episode was great. So great, that my friends and I have decided to hold our own Festivus dinner/celebration this tuesday. We've got a pole and a place to eat, and we're gonna do the airing of grievances and feats of strength. I was wondering if any of ya'll had any other suggestions to make this the best Festivus ever? What food? What to do after dinner? Any thing else would help. Thanks, and Happy Festivus to you all.

Poor Rolando. Is your life so mundane that you're afraid of anything new and different and exciting? Also, I'll still looking for suggestions.

I don't know why I'm responding to this, but here it goes.

My life is too full of reality to even attempt to think of celebrating something so ridiculous.

You go, Rolando!

Well, Killjoys aside, we're doing Festivus too and trust me, after the airing of the grievances you won't NEED anymore activitiy because everyone will hate everyone else (if you do it right!) I'm going to Hechingers tonight to get the aluminum pole!

What's wrong with celebrating Festivus? After all, Festivus is for the rest of us!

Well, for what it's worth, I think it's good that Erik and his friends will be celebrating Festivus. I'd love it if he could post a transcript of the airing of grievances and the feats of strength.

Some ideas:

* I suggest you rent and watch the Festivus classic, "It's a Pretty Good Life," starring Jimmy Stewart as a guy who briefly thinks about getting a job, decides it's too much trouble, and just watches the NFL playoffs.

  • The singing of Festivus carols is always a fun thing to do.

* Drinking some bacon nog (eggs are too expensive) is always a crowd-pleaser.

* Another great Festivus movie to watch is "Miracle On 43rd Street," about a drunk old man who thinks he's Santa Claus and makes life miserable for a woman and her small daughter until Natalie Wood blows his head off with a shotgun at the end.

If you are intending to conduct an orthodox Festivus, do not overlook the ritualized "Emptying of Pockets" by all guests onto the dining room table, immediately following "Feats of Strength". This symbolizes how little gain the year just-ending has wrought. Happy Festivus, Greg Haas

Doesn't Elaine really flip for Peach Schnapps? And doesn't Kramer go for some kind of "Ennigan's" (spelling?) Scotch? As for afterdinner refreshments, nothing beats Junior Mints. :)

Only HALF right. It is the connection between that double dipping and another religious double dipping.

O.K., I'll answer the other half of this question. It's taken from the "Four Questions" that, by Jewish tradition, are asked by the youngest child at the Passover seder, starting with the premise, "Why is this night different from all other nights?" My memory is a little rusty on this, but I believe the question is something along the lines of, "On all other nights, we dip our herbs (in vinegar) but once. Why on this night do we dip them twice?"

BTW, kudos on coming up with such a clever connection between George's "double-dipping," the Four Questions (sounds like the rock band from the early '60s), and Festivus.

Yes, but what would that have to do with Festivus? The Costanzas aren't Jewish. :)

I agree....very clever! Enjoy your holiday dinner!

Cinnamon a lesser babka? I think not.

Wasn't this the subject of a movie and Broadway play? "Children Of A Lesser Babka."

You're missing it! These are all food references from past shows! The bobka reference was from when Elaine and Jerry were buying the bobka for a dinner party they were all attending. This is also the episode where George was wearing the giant silver gortex jacket in the wine store with Kramer on the freezing cold night.

And the dipping business was at the wake, when the brother of the new girlfriend accused George of "double dipping" his chip in the dip.
