• What do you people think is the most brilliant Seinfeld episode?
• Are they still making new episodes?
• How many episodes are there?

Most people agree if you count each 1 hr. episode as 2 - there were 180 half hour episodes.

Welcome. Since you're not here in the US you wouldn't have reason to know some of this, so here goes...

There's a lot of debate about this. The subject gets discussed periodically here, about every 2 or 3 months. Some say "The Contest." Others might opt for "The Chinese Restaurant," or "Fusilli Jerry", or "The Betrayal." Or any of dozens of other classic episodes. Seinfeld never, in my personal opinion, made a bad one, it's just a selection among good, very good, or great comic TV episodes.

     No, the last one was produced in mid-April of 1998, and aired in the
United States and Canada at 9 PM (ET) on May 14, 1998.
     Some people believe the show will one day be re-started, based on messages
they thought they read into the ending of the last original episode at the end
of the show's North American run. Seinfeld himself says that is not going to
happen, although he does not rule out a one-shot TV or theatrical two hour film
to reunite the characters and tie up loose ends. However, no script for a
reunion movie is currently known to exist and no work has been done on such a
project yet. If it happens at all it won't be for several years. Seinfeld is
working on a rewrite of his standup act and doing TV  advertising projects. All
the other cast members are either doing feature films (Jason Alexander and
Julia Louis-Dreyfus) or have moved on to other TV series projects (Wayne Knight
on '3d Rock', Michael Richards in a new NBC sitcom to premiere this fall).

     There are approximately 183 half-hours in syndication in North America. A
few of them were initially full hour episodes cut in two and played on
successive nights in their off-network syndicated run. Obviously I don't know
if they run those double episodes as hour-long specials or as half hour shows
in sequence in your country. I don't even know if the entire run of the
production has aired yet in most of Europe. Most countries picked it up several
years after it started airing here, when it was already an established North
American hit..
     One episode, "The Puerto Rican Day Parade", originally airing in the US on
May 7, 1998, has never been rerun and was withdrawn from the syndication
package. It probably will never be seen again on broadcast TV in the home
market. Some considered the subject matter offensive to members of the Latin
American community. (Other Latinos did not regard it that way.) I don't know if
this affected its distribution outside North America.
