I have a book called Sein Off by David Kennerly. Larry David is quoted: "I started out thinking that I was going to miss the characters and I wanted to know where they would be. I wanted to have an image of them. I also wanted to leave open the possibility that they could come back, that they could emerge from somewhere. Not that they would come back and do the series, but just to perhaps give people some hope. You never know."

Hopefully this answers those rumors about Seinfeld returning next year.

BTW I heard or read somewhere they cut some guest stars' parts out because they didn't have enought time. Who did they cut out? Keith Hernandez? They showed him but maybe he testified or did some- thing else and they cut it. Courteney Cox? I think John Lithgow was supposed to be there. Did they cut him? They showed pictures of Poppy, The Pool Boy, and Marcelino the cock fight operator testifying in the book in the Finale but I don't remember any of them testifying. This can be a new thread-The mystery of the cut out guest stars.

John Lithgow was at the taping, but did not film any scenes himself. Courteney Cox was not in the final episode either. I've heard there were several scenes where people like Bania, Mickey, Hernandez, and Puddy interacted with each other, but were cut due to time constraints.

Marcelino was in the final cut. You must have forgotten him. As for Poppie and Pool Guy, they probably filmed scenes of them testifying, but those were cut. I'd bet most of the characters we saw in the episode had scenes filmed where they testified, but since time was limited, only a few actually ended up being used.

John Lithgow was never to be in the show. He was merely on the set as a friend (I remember reading that in Entertainment Weekely about a week before the Finale aired).

They cut as much as they could out of the show to bring it down to an hour's running time but actually had to put some material back IN so the thing would remain coherent. There is at least another 20 or 30 minutes of material currently on the shelf after hitting the cutting room floor. Don't know if it'll ever see air. But if they want to give the stations that bought the show a little value added, what they COULD do is put that material back in...and create an extra episode at the end of the syndication cycle. (It also might make up for an otherwise lost episode if they withdraw "The Puerto Rican Day" from syndication. And if you're wondering if Jerry appeared with Jennifer Lopez at the Grammy awards as a gesture of reconciliation...that is certainly part of it, but wouldn't it also make sense to assume at least part of his motivation was that he wanted her phone number and wanted to ask her out?)
