My thoughts on "The Pothole"

I agree that the show did not live up to the expectations that Jerry and commercials for it put forth (i.e. it is not a classic). I don't think it was bad, in fact I think the writing was somewhat better than other episodes this season in the sense that there weren't any obviously noticeable dangling plotlines (i.e. The Van Buren Boys"), but it wasn't a classic. Some of the jokes (Newman's charred body and the toilet overflowing on Jerry's date) seemed like they belong on Married With Children (not that I don't like MWC, but jokes on each show have their place), and the scene with everyone stuck in the janitor's closet seemed too much like a joke other sitcoms would use. In other words, those jokes weren't as witty as they should be.

Besides, "Oh, the humanity" has also been used in MWC numerous times.
