Fans debate whether Seinfeld should end while still popular or continue as long as it remains funny, with disagreement over the show's current quality and sustainability.
With the whole "Jerry getting paid millions and has a one year contract while the rest have two" story still doing the round and the show creeping toward number 200 is it time to say goodbye to Seinfeld. Wouldn't it be better for the show to bow out while on top rather than haul its sorry tied arse for countless more seasons. What do you'll want, Seinfeld to carry on forever or for the next to be the last season. In case you haven't worked this out yet I'm trying to open up a discussion that isn't centred around Elaine's religion.
If your lucky enough to have any kind of hit series on Television or Radio why not ride that baby out. There are so many bad shows on I often wonder how some of these shows recieve any ratings. Seinfeld is a hilliarious show well written likeable characters even with the internal changes the show has gone through it still kicks. My vote is to stay afloat till NBC runs out of cash which ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
Bearing in mind that this is all about personal preference, I for one wouldn't have a problem having Seinfeld around for as long as it continues to be funny. For example, look at The Simpsons, which has been around for many years while maintaining a high level of quality. It's one of the few shows I can think of that I have come to enjoy *more* as the seasons tick by.
Of course, there's the sizable contingent that doesn't believe Seinfeld is funny anymore and that it ought to be euthanized. Well, maybe. But all I can say is that I continue to enjoy Seinfeld. There are mostly good episodes, a not insignificant amount of uninspired crap, and a few classic gems, which I would argue has been pretty much the situation since the beginning.
I also don't think internal politics should influence the subject. If the show is good, it's good, regardless of what's going on behind the scenes. Same with the "age" issue. I don't think a TV program necessarily has to end simply because it's been going on for so long. As soon as I detect, according to my tastes and what I am looking for out of the show, that Seinfeld has truly "lost it" in terms of humor, inspiration, and energy, I will be up there agitating for the show's painless death. Until then, I'm happy to see Seinfeld go on...and on....
But then, I also am one of those who preferred the *later* M*A*S*H to the earlier seasons, so.... <g>

I think it would be sad for everybody if Seinfeld ended on its 9th season. Seinfeld is so good for TV, of course at one point the characters will get old and turn gray but I would love to see it hit 200 episodes or about 11 or 12 seasons. I can see some of the characters starting spinoff shows,too. Like Michael Richards, who's already taking a fairly large step into movies with that lawyer movie that came out this year.Isn't Newsradio still going on?They haven't stopped yet, they get much lower ratings than Seinfeld, but they are on a pace to 200 episodes. Seinfeld is a number 1 show, they oughtta get to 225. I sure hope they do!

NewsRadio has been on for two and a half seasons. This past season they had their 50th episode.I hope that some day it will reach the 200 mark. Maybe when Seinfeld ends people will start watching NR.

actually Jerry Seinfeld had a piece on news radio. He was in the restaurant minding his own business, when Bill Mcneal (phil Hartman) interrupted him for some interview. Jerry just wanted to be left alone undisturbed. It was a great episode I definitely must say.
