What is George's fixation with Lupus? On the show last night, he cancelled his trip to the Caymans because a psychic told him something terrible was going to happen. George asks, among other things, "Is it a plane crash? Is it a terrorist? Is it Lupus?"
Then, on the show where he thinks he's had a heart attack, the doctor tells him that it's not a heart attack, and George asks, "Is it Lupus?"

I don't know why George has a particular fixation with Lupus but you have to remember that he is a hypochondriac which means he is fixated with getting any kind of health problem.
Maybe he is stuck on lupus because it is something of a debilitating disease and after finding out that something bad will happen to him on the trip, his hypochondria kicked in and he guessed it was lupus.

Maybe it's just that "lupus" sounds funny. Or maybe he's a fan of the old "Mission: Impossible" series, which featured an actor named Peter Lupus.
I also think Lupus sounds funny!
What made the lupus thing hysterical is that some of the symptoms associated with lupus are the same as for a variety of other maladies, and are often pretty general and one could, on a bad day, convince themselves, and tell everyone else, they've got it. Plus, no one really knows what the hell it is, so it flows off the tongue of George pretty nicely!

I saw the rerun the other night where he thought he was having a heart attack. Jerry is saying how he should have ever told him to watch that PCS special on heart problems because the year before, he had him watch a show on anorexia and he "ate like a horse for two weeks".
