question on 129 west 81st st

i as watching a rerun on tape and i noticed something that i can't explain. in the episode where jerry, george, and elaine go to a party in long island, george announces to his co-worker from the real estate office that he has just sold 129 west 81st st. if i remember correctly, this is the same address that george gives to the cab driver during his vandalay industries debaucle (george was trying to get to jerry's to tell him that he needed to answer the phone vandalay industries). now, what is the deal here? is this just a case of the writers really liking the address 129 west 81st st or did jerry move into the apartment that george sold? if you can check the tapes yourself, please do.

George didn't sell the building, the friend that he ended up dating did. And besides it's a whole building it wasn't just Jerry's apartment. The tenants in those buildings never know who owns them you just deal with the super.

I'm sure George was just lying and the first address that came to his mind was Jerry's.

Go back and re-watch the episode, you have it all wrong in your head. They walk into the party and that woman that he ended up dating, can't remember her name, said "guess who just sold 129 West 81st st." It wasn't George trying to impress her so he couldnt have lied about anything, he didn't sell the damn building!!!!

Anyone notice that everytime they show that ground level shot of Jerry's building, that the number on the awning is 557? (And no, I can't spell.)

The building they show isn't even in NY...it's in LA, look for the earthquake reinforcements.
