You know, I exercised a little suspension of disbelief and will always think of it as Kramer's real life adventure whenever Jerry leaves...I know it's not possible in the REAL WORLD, but they're just TV people...real...TV people.

Does it really matter? It's just another example of the more surreal comedic tone the show has taken since Larry David's departure. I don't think we're meant to ask - or know - if some of these things are real, outside of the context of the episode.
