Susan's death was FUNNY

<Everyone who was at my place watching it with me was laughing <hysterically, especially when Susan died!! Isn't there anyone in this <newsgroup who appreciated the event purely for its comedic effect?

I'll bet you were disappointed when the news of the Bosnian ceasefire came through. Man, I can't even imagine how much you must have laughing when those pictures of people being maimed and killed by artillery fire were on the news. How reassuring it must have for you when China threatened Taiwan last month and the Israeli peace process was derailed by the Likud Party and suicide bombers. I'm sure you'll be on the edge of your seat this June, praying for another Communist takeover in Russia so that they can fight to reunify the USSR.

Someone thought the final episode was funny and I was merely expressing my deepest sympathy for fact that they can't see as much death on the news anymore, since they seem to find it so funny.

Death is death is death. It's either funny or its not. It doesn't matter whether its real or not, since it represents the same thing.

I can't help but think I've heard this argument before. I'm sure it sounds familiar. Maybe you should restate it about four dozen more times and I'll remember. As for you substantive point, whether real or not death should still be disturbing. Obviously it isn't since you psychos think its funny but then thats to be expected from a country in decline. Rome became obsessed with bloodsports during its last centuries too.

Statement 1 seems to say that all deaths -- real or fictional -- are the same, and so presumably unfunny.

Statement 2 seems to leave open the possibility that some deaths (presumably some of the fictional ones) are funny.

Statement 3 sounds like statement 1.

So which is it? Are some (fictional) deaths funny or not?

or ten other no-brainer sit-coms I could name. They seem to be funny at first untill that fatal "Tragedy strikes the set of..........." were one of the characters has a life threatening problem. Hey it's a FREEKEN COMEDY!!!! and when you start taking yourself seriously it's time to quit.

Seinfeld is great because it is a comedy and I hope it stays that way.

I thought her death was HORRIBLE. How in the hell could you laugh at someone's death...It's STILL my favorite show (the ASSMAN episode the best), but the last one of the season was a real downer...

ummm...because it wasn't real? You didn't like "Weekend at Bernie's" or "The Trouble With Harry" did you?

TV characters were never anyone's baby. They are just characters created by a writer. It doesn't make a difference if they die.

Of course, they're not real...Yes, but you see, couldn't the characters show remorse for another character who the writers did not make evil or mean? I was waiting for the punch line that never came...I left the ending with an eerie feeling, one I never got from any

Am I the only one who thinks Susan faked her death to get out of marrying George since he spent the whole episode trying to do just that? -James
