Jerry and George don't know each other

Remember the scene in the recent repeat about Duncan and the race that Jerry had to go through? The episode itself wasn't that funny except for the scene when George pretends to not know Jerry since high school. That's one of my favorite scenes of all time.

Well what about this for a series finale . . .

In the final moments of the series finale it's revealed that Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer don't even know each other!

George is just a guy that hangs out at a comedy bar that Jerry headlines in. Elaine is just some cute chick that also goes to the bar . . . and George has always found her attractive, but he's too timid to approach her. And Kramer? Well, Kramer is either a bouncer or another comedian who also works the bar . . .

And George . . . poor George . . .

He's just some shlump that hangs out there because he has absolutely no life . . . he has no girlfriend . . . he has no job . . . and he still lives with his parents. As he has no life of his own, he's created his own reality where all these people are his friends . . .

At the end of Jerry's performance, reality sinks in for poor George and, as he's walking out of the smoke-filled bar, out into the cold, midnight rain, he stops and looks around at all the couples and people with friends who are busy going on with their lives . . .

and he says to himself . . .

"So now what am I gonna do?"

I think that would kind of screw them a little when it comes to reruns. I mean NBC I'm sure is hoping to milk tons of money out of Seinfeld in syndication, they've only begun. It wouldn't help if every time people were watching the old episodes they were supposed to think that the characters were just figments of Jerry's imagination

I didn't watch the Newhart series (the one where he ran the inn in Vermont) but didn't the series finale have him waking up in bed with Emily from The Bob Newhart Show (the one where he was a psychologist) and the whole inn thing was just a dream sequence? And that show is now in syndication; the dream thing didn't seem to matter.

Given that, though, I really hope they don't end this with a dream sequence or anything like that. I'm kind of hoping there's no big end to it at all. In other words, I hope the end is about nothing. Yep. That's it. A big nothing ending.
