Seinfeld will move to TBS for cable syndication this fall while local broadcast stations keep syndication rights.

I know our local NBC affiliate, whch has run Seinfeld at 5:30 is shifting their schedule around for **more news**...and that may indicate that the Seinfeld run here has run its course ;-((
I *thought* that TNT or TNN was picking it up, as an old news story, but not sure if that was reality or a dream...

Yep, it's supposed to move to some type of Turner station this fall. I belive it's TBS not TNT, but I could be wrong. Not sure about the start date.

Is that in addition to the local syndication deals or will it replace them? Since Castle Rock owns the show, it makes sense that they would air it as that was one of the reasons they bought it pre Time Warner and AOL merger.
I *really* don't know, since I can only get one market legally here. It will certainly alter my choice of channels to watch. 5:30 PM will never be the same.
AFAIK NY FOX CH5 is not changing their 730 (?) PM and 11PM runs.

It's TBS that's supposed to be adding it to its lineup sometime this year (why they've been sitting on it all year is beyond me!!)
TBS will own the exclusive "cable rights" to the show in the U.S.. This means no other cable station can air the show, but broadcast affiliates and independent broadcast stations will still have their syndication rights (as long as they keep renewing).
So it will be in addition to the current airings in syndication for most of us.

A lot of sitcoms are using this procedure -- first on local broadcast, then on cable. For example, next year "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" will be part of the Nick at Nite schedule. It's a good idea for sitcoms, considering not every market has a show's broadcast syndication available.
