How the hell does Kramer survive? He has no job! Can people really do this in NYC?

Well, you see, Christa, people in NYC have a big scam going. Nine out of
Ten New Yokrers have no job. The government supports the entire city. Why
else do you think people would continue to live there? They're being paid
to stay there...sort of like how it is in Escape From New York. I bet you
didn't know this, did you? So, in short, yes Kramer is sponging off of
good hard-working people's incomes (like your parents). That's how he, and
90% of all New Yorkers stay alive. But don't let this secret out...the
government doesn't want people to know.
Since you're down in Georgia, please say hello to that weird kid
who sits on his porch playing the banjo all day. You may have seen him
in Dliverance. That's a pretty true representation of Georgia, don't you
think?
It's people like you that I worry about sometimes, Christa...you
can't seem to separate fantasy from reality. Maybe as an exercise, you
should move to NY, and just spend money without working. See what happens...
then get back to us. --And the most shocking thing about your post is...
that you're in college. God save us all.
ps. Beavis and Butthead aren't real either...but feel free to do
evrything they do on their TV show.

Glad to hear someone beside me say this... I think my sarcastic tone when saying it didn't quite come across to everyone.

I think the subject of Kramer's source of income was discussed in another thread, but no one mentioned the possibility that he made big bucks as an underwear model for Calvin Klein! After all, his buttocks are sublime!

Maybe this career fizzled out after the photos revealed a bit too much Kramer :-)!

Yes, discussed long ago, and once that came up, just about everyone accepted it and forgot about Kramer's income... it's useless to discuss it because we will never know, and if we did, it's wouldn't be as much fun.

I'm so happy to be of service with a little known fact about how Kramer gets hi s income! I read a "Kramer Bio" somewhere--maybe the newspaper or the Companio n--that said Kramer once made big money betting on a horse. I am pretty sure t his was never directly dealt with on the show--maybe mentioned once as a "nothi ng" line. He IS a gambling man. He was betting on a horse in the subway episo de. I think he's on one of those "lifetime payoff" systems where the winner is paid so much a week or month. Evidence: In an episode from this year, George asked Kramer for some small bills, and Kramer replied, "I only get paid in hund reds." You're welcome! And tell your friends!

His big money day was mentioned on the show. Go back and look at the Subway episode...he gets a tip on a "mudder" and wins big!

Kramer made a killing at the track a few seasons back. And, of course, there's the underwear modeling, the coffee- table book on coffeetables and other assorted projects.

If I knew someone like Kramer, I'd probably figure he was a drug dealer.

In the episode with the accountant, Kramer kind of flipped out that the guy might be a cocaine addict. He's into fruit and massages, somehow in my mind that doesn't paint the picture of a drug dealer in New York.

Also, he wasn't that 'hip' when he tried to bait the accountant in the bar...

Thanks for answering. I really didn't mean to upset anyone with such a supposedly judgemental and and disrespectful-to-New-Yorkers question. I went to school in New York and rents are extremely high, so I was merely curious about how he earned his income. By the way, everyone living in Georgia is just like a character from Deliverence. Especially here in Athens. Yep, the music scene is just chocked full of toothless, banjo playing bald kids!
