Isn't it ironic that Kramer recommended the "Gene" pick "Weekend At Bernie's II" to Elaine out of all the mediocre mainstream movie comedies the writers could have chosen? You will remember that this movie co-starred the comedically-impaired Jonathan Silverman, who precedes "Seinfeld" in the humor-free "The Single Guy." To add an incestuous twist, Elaine's real-life husband, Brad Hall, created that unmemorable series.
Coupled with George's comment about the "homogenization" that occurs from group writing, might the "Seinfeld" crew be slyly commenting on the mediocrity of the lame sitcom that precedes it? I mean, maybe they'd like to have a good lead-in, too! :-)
