Arg, I waited months for THAT?!?

Well, of course we're all gonna be ranting here for days and days. My big question: Why does everyone hate the characters??? I never found anything wrong OR overexaggerated about them. Well, they do put certain things entirely out of proportion once in awhile, but it's hilarious! For the past week I've heard the idiots on the news and silly critics (most of whom are Seinfeld haters). And they've all said one common thing: the Seinfeld characters are bad people. What??? When did this happen? I thought the show was not only hilarious but the constant irony evident in each episode from beginning to end is great (true, it may be done obssesively however it's still a knee-smacker every time). Last night's episode didn't have any of the great editing and directing seen in the early years (ie. silly cutaways to Kramer pulling lobster out of the ocean, Newman walking down the street in slightly faster speed film in a ridiculous gait as Kramer drops something down on him. May seem like small and stupid observations, but they're what make the show even more appealing). Nevertheless, the whole finale was nothing but a flashback show (didn't that happen like 45 minutes before the finale even started???). I think that they could have ended the show by just showing a one-hour regular episode that didn't answer any questions (please...did the show really have any questions that needed answering? It isn't the X-Files for crying out loud). And them going to jail for something that incredibly insane? Geraldo's appearance was so plastic and lame. Kramer was about the only funny one and he didn't seem to really be "on" at all. I don't think I learned a bit from this episode. Oh well, at least everytime I listen to my Superman theme I'll think of Jerry and Co. l8r

Yes, they frequently were bad people who didn't care about anyone else around them, but the rest of the world was no better. The entire world was cruel and unfair. I always thought that was the underlying point of the show. Now that I think about it, this is another area where the finale fell down. If the four are being made to pay for being a self absorbed bunch, it weakens the concept to have them be victims of an unfair law and trial. Remember, the reason they were prosecuted so vehemently had more to do with publicity than justice. It's a mixed message. we ewre supposed to see them in an unfavorable light, but they were also put in a sympathetic position.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. This never made any sense to me either.
