Eagerly watched this last night after being deprived a cinema release here in the UK and thought it was excellent. Great to see Jerry in a different environment to the series, swearing, out late, dealing with hecklers/fans etc. The film is a really good insight in to the life of a stand-up - bit too much on Orny Adams though I thought and not that many gags in it but on the whole just great stuff with the odd surprise here and there. The deleted "Struggling with DNA" scene is just hilarious - why it didn't make the film I don't know, maybe out of context or didn't fit in with what he wanted to say but great ad-libed comedy that could make a good "bit" in itself.

Anyway I'm sure everyone here will be getting the DVD - a must especially for UK fans.

Got it today. Great stuff. Just a few questions,

1) Who is Jiminy Glick? I'm guessing some sort of comic interviewer in the vein of Mrs Merton et al.

• So did 'The Orny Adams Show' air? Did anyone see it?

3) On my DVD the Letterman appearances are barely audible (the start of at least I didn't leave them running). Am I the only one to suffer this problem?

Yes I should check out the commentary. This is one of the few DVDs I am actually looking forward to sitting down and watching the whole thing again with the commentary on.

On the subject of the "Struggling with DNA" scene. Who thinks Jerry would be good in an improv show like "Whose Line Is It Anyway" or simply sitting on a sofa using audience questions to stimulate gags like Baddiel and Skinner (sorry USA)? Comments please?

I'm not sure that his 'What's the deal with...?' style would suit WLIIA?. That said, when you see his standup his adlibs can be pretty good. I could see him being good on something like 'Baddiel and Skinner'.

Does anyone know if the US DVD is in widescreen? I've also got the Canadian one from play.com and was a little disapointed to see it's in fullscreen. Mind you IMDB says the film was in fullscreen but amazon.com say it the DVD is widescreen. How confusing.

So... the question is can people who have the US DVD of Comedian tell us is it in widescreen (16:9) or full screen (1.33:1 I think). If the US DVD is in widescreen I'll send mine back to play.com and get the US one from somewhere.

I was talking with someone about this question when the movie came out -- they filmed it with those handheld digital cameras, and since they (the cameras) film in full screen aspect ratio (is what he said) -- so it's (the dvd is) only going to be in that format -- there is no wide screen in this case -- so enjoy.

Does your Comedian DVD have an insert? I got mine the other day and noticed the only thing in the case was the DVD. I caught Jerry's appearance on Regis the other day and when Regis attempted to open his DVD case I noticed it had an insert. What's up with that? Is mine "defective". It may seem like "nothing", but, dammit, I want my insert!!

No my DVD has no insert. The cover has a flap inside with a picture of Jerry. The DVD is great.
