Nothing?

I love the show, I'm a big fan, but one thing I don't get:

How can they say its about nothing? The show has hjust as much plot to it as any other...the only difference is that most sitcoms have a main plot with a few other sideline stories and it seems in seinfeld that the plots are all e2qually important and that they coincide in the end.

And whereas a lot of shows end with some sort of moral to follow by, seinfeld doesn't, in fact they rarely actually solve the problem.

But then, you could say that about Married With Children, the simpsons, south park, and sometimes Coach (not to say that these are all sitcoms)

Julia once said, "It's obviously not about nothing. But then again, it is about nothing, because ten minutes after you saw it, you can't really remember what you saw."

Just a side note...before filming the epilogue to "The End," they had to reload the cameras. Jerry's comment was, "They'll put in ten minutes' worth of film, we'll shoot for thirty seconds, and there'll be nine and a half minutes of..." He shrugged and never finished the sentence.

There was a critic who wrote a review, in a California paper (before the show was hatched), in which he criticized Jerry's stand-up routines as being 'about nothing' and therefore inconsequential. Jerry must have taken that comment as a rallying cry to flaunt his successful show as being 'about nothing'.

Actually, like Jerry's stand up, it takes the little inconsequential things and dissects them. The frustration of waiting at a restaurant while hungry, the frustration of forgetting where you parked, the embarrassment of forgetting your new girlfriend's name, etc. What other show could fill 1/2 hour with 2 guys out in a parking lot fighting over a parking space? There are no big morality issues that need to be addressed. It doesn't hit you over the head with some Liberal message. It just takes events from life and analyzed them in a funny way. At least that's how how it started. The last couple seasons have been more traditional but still better than anything else.
