Does anyone else agree that the Newman character is either overused, or misused, this season? He used to be a mysterious antangonist of Jerry's, which made him interesting. But he seems to be all over the map this season - and Jerry is even VISITING his nemesis in his apartment!
Personally, I liked it better when they avoided each other's presence under any circumstance. What happened to the edge!?

I agree that the whole Newman thing is a bit thin in the new series - to the point where some scenes involving him & Kramer are just plain slapstick. There seem to be a number of the new episodes where all the characters seem to rely on on outrageous gestures rather than good writing.

I like Newman being drawn into the plots. I think he was underutilized in earlier years, and that now his character is being more fully developed. To me, the edge is still there. The antagonism is still there.
But then, I'd like to see Crazy Joe come back, too! Go figure!
