does anyone know if the backing tune to george's answering machine originates from anywhere or if it was just made up for the purpose of that message??

You know, I've been looking at some of those old Billboard charts.

Music then was absolute worlds better than music today.

It's the theme song from "Greatest American Hero", an early-80's TV show.

"Believe it or not..." was the theme song of an old show with a Captain America type hero. I forget the name of the central character playing the role.

I also believe the song made it to the Top 40, anyone else recollect this?

Yep, they changed his name to Mr. Henley. And I believe they may have gone back and dubbed that name in the existing episodes, too.
