Hello SEINers,

I watched the episode entitled "The Fix-Up" yesterday and I noticed something...Jerry has a 2-line phone in this episode (This is obvious when he's talking to George and Elaine after the "fix-up"). That show was from last year and on this year's episode "The Outing" both Kramer and Elaine buy Jerry a 2-line phone for his birthday. What's the deal? When did Jerry lose his 2-line phone and why would he? I'm sure he could afford it. Anyways just taught I'd let you guys know...

Maybe I'm just watching too closely... yeah that's it! But it's just sooooooo damn good how can you not.

Another thing. In the episode entitled "The Pen" Elaine (after taking some muscle relaxers) keeps yelling out STELLA!!!!!!! I might be wrong, but isn't that a reference to Stallone in ROCKY when he yells out to his wife from the ring. Isn't his wife's name Stella in the movie. It's been so long since I saw it I can't remember.

Can anybody confirm or deny this? Let me know. Thanks.

I am a Canadian, and I am BAFFLED. What is a "TWO LINE PHONE" to you Americans? In Canada, (Toronto anyway) a two line phone means you get TWO LINES... It seems obvious. Two lines, two numbers, two bills and you can't jus plug in a PHONE to get it unless you have (and pay for) two lines.

What Jerry seemed to use in his TWO LINE episode was what we call 3 way calling, or call waiting. These arew services offered (with additional fee) by our phone companies. They do not need ANY special phone equipment. I can make two calls or reciece two calls on ANY phone I own. I pay for this service.

What Jerry did in that episode makes me think the US is somehow different.

It made me VERY curious at the time. Thanks for bringing it up.

In Seinfeld, Stellllaaaa! is a reference to Marlon Brando in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or some Tennessee Williams play like that (I kind of forget). I think the only reason I know that, is that the first time I saw that episode, whoever I was watching with knew it and let me in on it. Either that, or its explicit in the show, but I don't think it is. So it must have been my brilliant literate Seinfeld buddy. (long answer to a very short question!)

The movie in which Brando yells "Stella" is "A Streetcar Named Desire." Stella, played by Vivian Leigh, was Brando's girlfriend in the movie. The Stella-Streetcar connection explains the Simpsons reference, but doesn't explain the Seinfeld reference.

Actually, Vivien Leign played Stella's sister Blanche. Even though she had a fling with Stanley, Brando's character, he was married to Stella. Just couldn't resist setting things straight.

Well, Elaine was prompted by pain killers and an introduction to a woman named Stella (Uncle Leo's wife). What more motivation do you need to make like Brando? :-)
