Yes we do because Jerry Seinfeld himself has gone on record saying that the actress "flubbed" (as they would say on CBS). Therefore, of all the millions of names in the world, what are the chances she got it right?

I don't think Newman was ever meant to really have a first name, but Kramer was. If you look at an old article in Rolling Stone, around the 1993-1994 season, there's a quote from Jerry that Kramer's first name will be revealed someday.

And it was...in January of 1995. NBC ran the Seinfeld episode opposite Bill Clinton's 1995 State of the Union message, the only time that network ever skipped the President's speech for a regularly scheduled entertainment show. Seinfeld already had the top sitcom on TV by then, but he still drew one of the highest audiences in series history (over 50 million that night, as I recall) and more Americans the next day were talking about Kramer's first name being Cosmo, than about the President's speech.
