Fans discuss whether the ending of 'The Mom & Pop Store' parodied 'Midnight Cowboy,' with the Harry Nilsson song and bus scene seeming to reference that film.
It looked to me like Seinfeld was doing another parody of a movie at the end of 'The Mom & Pop Store' with Kramer & Jerry on the bus and that Harry Nilsson song 'Everybody's Talkin' playing in the background. Does anyone know which movie it was/might have been that they were parodying?

I thought it was "Midnight Cowboy," because wasn't George eager to buy a car supposedly owned by Jon Voight, who starred in that movie? Besides, I checked and found out that "Everybody's Talking" was in "Midnight Cowboy."
Yep - it was Midnight Cowboy - John Voight and Dustin Hoffman did the same scene. Dustin Hoffman was the one that died.

It seemed strange that they actually got the permission to use the correct music unlike what they did with the one where George watched "Home Alone" and a few other times when they put in their own music.
