As I've been reading in all the posts here, many people have written off this season as a failure after two episodes, and unfortunately I didn't get to see tonight's. I must say that this season has started off quite raggedy, but there have been good moments and quotes. Peterman's "You might know it as Myanmar, but it will always be Burma to me," was just classic wording. Sure, they are a bit wounded with Larry David leaving, but you have to assume that it will get better.
Jerry doesn't do stand-up, unfortunately, because of his new responsibilities for taking over the entire show pretty much. What I've noticed is a weird lack of chemistry going into this season. I liked the premiere, but I felt that Janeane Garofalo should not have been ousted quite so quickly, because she is hilarious. But, in the context of the show, it fits perfectly... Jerry gets off easily all the time, so why should an engagement be any different?
Plots? Yes, hopefully the show will return to its plotless roots. I think transitions have been occurring on-screen as well as off. They lost a major returning member, and needed a place to go. So new situations abounded for this season. Back to chemistry, maybe its the editing I have a problem with. It gets to a disjointed point, and can take away the bite of a scene.
Seinfeld will right its tilted ship soon enough, and all will be well. So, don't write it off so soon.
