3rd rock "Dumb show or what?"

Does anyone else thing the show "Thrid rock from the sun" its really dumb? I mean the whole story line of aliens acting like humans has been done to death. Sometimes I really can't BELIEVE that a show like that has become popular!

Anyone agree?

I never thought it would become popular. When I first heard about I said: "Oh no! Not ANOTHER alien show!" The idea was so ancient it never should have got off the board. I think the show was only successful because the actors that were cast as the aliens struck a chord with the public. -John

I remember when ABC first started running promos for this garbarge before its innaugural episode. I was actually intrigued (up to a point). I sat through the first half hour and I had to try hard to stop from vomiting. What a worthless piece of crap this is. What amazes me most is the praise and acclaim it has earned from the critics and my fellow television-watchers. I'm sorry, I just don't get it. There is not one ounce of wittiness present in any of these scripts. I tried to watch the show several times, hoping desperately that it would grow on me (as so many shows have, vis-a-vis, Night Court). No go.

If the show had been cancelled in its first season, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

The writers repeatedly resort to the most worn, mundane cliches and catch-lines...I have yet to see something on this show akin to originality. The boon-doggling and haphazard earthly-adjustment motifs are enough to drive one to 24-hour public radio. This waste is an unrefutable testament to the lowered expectations of an increasingly cynical and deprived TV-viewing public...please...let's demand more! I realize, Seinfeld isn't what it used to be, but must we revert to Mork and Mindy mentality? What's next...another take on Three's Company, '90s style?? God forbid!!

I couldn't agree more, I think that 3rd Rock is one of the most infantile programs I have ever wasted 30 minutes on. (a close second is Frasier)

I cast my vote for an EXCELLENT SITCOM after Seinfeld, of course.... 3rd Rock is an very creative, funny, off-the-wall kind of show....they poke fun at things that we take for granted...I don't miss it!!! 3rd Rock...ROCKS!!!!! Nicole :o)

I personally think that "Third Rock from the Sun" is a great show. It is so off the wall that I can't help but laugh at it.

I actually find "3rd Rock From the Sun" to be a rather neat show. I stayed away from the first few episodes, but after Lithgow won awards for his performance I gave it a try. And I can actually say it ranks as one of my top four fave shows on TV - Just behind "Seinfeld," "The Simpsons," and just before "King of the Hill". I know the "alien" thing has been done to death on TV (Alf, Mork, My Fave Martian, etc) - but so has "office/workplace-based comedy." The thing I can't believe is how a show like "Married With Children" became popular. That is utter dreck.

I agree...I HATE this show.

I mean, those "Aliens" could easily be replaced by escaped mental patients, and we wouldn't know the difference! Is Lithgow's Movie Career that bad??? At least "Mork & Mindy" and "ALF" had something new and fresh in its portrayal of aliens on Earth, but...these guys are just a bunch of idiots runnin around saying stupid things to stupid people.

Maybe Stallone hit Lithgow one too many times in the head in "Cliffhanger". ;)
