Help! Why does George take his shirt off when he pees? Could someone cite the episode where we learn of this behavior?

Absolutely correct. And it is the one where George eats out of Susan's mother's house. He also wipes a car window in the street (after spilling/throwing coffee on it and which Susan's mother saw), and he comes out of the bathroom at a party that Susan's mother held at her house without his shirt on. Of course, all this leads to Susan's mother thinking George is a bum.

I don't think this took place at Susan's. Wasn't this when George was dating the character played by Jessica Hecht (Single Guy, Friends). I don't remember her name but I don't think it was Susan. Anyone know?

Definitely was not Susan. Argh! Can't think of her name! This was the episode however, where George says, "I do better with the mothers than with the daughters. If I could date the mothers, and have sex with the daughters, THEN...I'd have something."

Can't remember the episode name, but there was one of those 3D pictures in the bathroom during a party or something, and George was so distracted by it, he forgot to put his shirt back on before he came out.

He says it "frees him up and takes away any encumbrances". The episode where this happens is the one where George is going out with this woman, and her mother keeps catching him in acts of strange behavior---eating an eclair from the wastebasket, wiping windshields in the street, and, finally, coming out of the bathroom without his shirt on into a living room full of people during a party. The woman who plays his girlfriend is the same woman who plays the role of Janine on 'The Single Guy', and also, she plays Ross' ex-wife's lesbian lover on 'Friends'. (So, theoretically, she could've been on three shows in a row...)

Of course, there was a discrepancy with this whole "George taking off his shirt when he goes to the bathroom" thing. There was an episode where George gave the unemployment office Jerry's phone number, telling them it was a place called Vandalay Industries (where he had supposedly had an interview for a job), and Jerry was supposed to answer the phone with a greeting of, "Vandalay Industries". Anyway, when the unemployment office finally called, KRAMER answered the phone and said, "Vandalay Industries???? You must have the wrong number." At that point, George came running out of the bathroom with his pants around his ankles and his SHIRT ON yelling, "Vandalay Industries!!! Vandalay Industries!!!"

So, obviously, something's not quite right...

That's when he sat on the Pot. Those computer generated graphics caused him to mesmerized so as Mr. Pitt. After looking at it for a while he took off his shirt without realizing, and that was at a girlfriend's party!

That was the same episode he ate that eclair out of the trash, and was washing that guy's windscreen. (three strikes)

It was the episode of the ill fated party. The eclair in the garbage also occurred.

I thought about the reason for George taking off his shirt. A little background here - I have a 5 year old son. My little guy tends to not pay attention in the bathroom, so on several occasions he has peed on his shirt (the wall, the floor, his shoes etc) He takes off articles of clothing that get in his way. I suspect George is similarly inept. Perhaps he did not want an embarrassing stain on his clothing. George is just so *concerned* with his appearance at times.

He doesn't take off his shirt to pee, he takes it off to sit on the toilet. And even if you don't believe me I do it because the shirt tends to fall down around the edges of the toilet, sometimes it gets wet and sometimes it's difficult to clean yourself. So i would guess he does it for that also. He said on that episode that it was to feel free.
