It seems that Carol Leifer was being sued for alledgedly stealing an idea from a short film she was offered a part in, which she turned down. The man who wrote the short film (who was also named Leifer, but no relation) claimed that the idea for the episode when Elaine gets her nails done in the Korean salon, and believes the women are talking about her in their language, & consequently brings in George's father to interpret for her as a spy, was really his idea & is in his script. The judge threw out the case stating that the idea wasn't a novel enough concept to warrant protection under the law.
