For whatever it's worth, my favorite episode ever was "The Outing." It's the episode when false rumors circulate about Jerry and George being gay lovers. "Not that there's anything wrong with that." The truly hilarious moments are too numerous to list.
I think that episode was even funnier than "The Contest." I have no opinion on the much-acclaimed "The Parking Garage," since I haven't seen it yet. (Forgive me, but I've only been watching Seinfeld for a few months. In reruns, I caught most of the episodes from 1992 until the present.)
Seinfeld rules and there are so many awesome episodes out there that it's hard to choose but one of many would be the episode where Kramer gets a smoking place in his apartment and he calls on the realiable lawyer (he's always good fro a laugh) what's his name again??? Anyways when he says something like look at his face all black and krinkly, look at him, disgusting!!!!! He's definately my fav character that's not a regular. Hopefully he'll be back for one more episode before Seinfeld calls it quits. Any word yet on whether it'll be this year or next year???
My favorite episode is when Elaine gets stuck on the subway while on the way to a lesbian wedding. First of all, Elaine is all dressed up and she is gorgeous! Second, having ridden the subways of Boston all my life I can't help breaking up when Elaine gets excited after the train starts up again and then comes to a screeching halt after going only about 500 feet. The lights go out and she screams "MOTHERFU..." I can't count how many times the same thing has happened to me. Right on Laine!
I totally agree with you about the episodes "The Contest" and the "Parking Garage". But, how about "78. The Marine biologist", "30. The subway", "47. The Bubble Boy", "77. The Dinner Party", "86. The Opposite" and "36. The Limo"
30. The Subway 1/8/92 ( Everyone has an adventure on the subway. Elaine gets stuck and misses a lesbian wedding. Kramer gets a tip on a horse and then almost gets robbed of his winnings. George meets a beautiful woman and the she robs him at her hotel room. Jerry meets a naked man and goes to Coney Island with him. )
47. The Bubble Boy 10/7/92 (Jerry agrees to visit a boy in a bubble on his way upstate with Elaine, George, and Susan. George loses Jerry and ends up getting in a fight with the bubble boy. Kramer burns down Susan's father's cabin. Jerry and George describe the pies.)
36. The Limo 2/26/92 (Jerry and George takes someone else's limo from the airport and are mistaken for leaders of the Aryan Union.)
78. The Marine Biologist 2/10/94 (A definite top ten! A woman Jerry and George know from college asks about George so Jerry tells her that he is a marine biologist. A Russian writer throws Elaine's electronic organizer out the car window and hits a woman in the head. Golden Boy is Jerry's favorite shirt but it doesn't make it through the wash. Kramer hits golf balls at the beach.)
77. The Dinner Party 2/3/94 (The whole gang is heading to a dinner party and they need something to bring. Jerry and Elaine have trouble getting a Chocolate Bobka. George has a new gortex coat that causes him to break some bottle of wine.)
86. The Opposite 5/19/94 A definite top ten. George tries to do the opposite of his instincts. Elaine loses everything because of Jujyfruits. Jerry is even-Steven. Kramer gets his coffee table book published.

I'm not sure I have "a favorite episode" either - there are just too many fabulous episodes to choose just one! - but I do remember the first episode I ever watched, the one that got me very hooked - in a few words, "The Parking Garage" - Hilarious!
I also read some posts a while ago when everyone here was discussing their "favorite minor character," and at the time I couldn't pinpoint who would be my very favorite, but since then I've nailed it down to my One Fave. Minor - Jackie Chiles, whom I also notice you're discussing now. : )
