Fans debate which of Kramer's business ideas is the dumbest, citing examples like the DIY pizza place, car periscope, bladder for ships, and other schemes.
Just for the sake of starting a debate. What do you think Kramer's dumbest idea is? The 'do it yourself' pizza place, or the car periscope? What about the 'bladder for ships'?
I'll go with the smoking lounge he opened in his apartment. It back fired on him when all the smoke ruined his complexion ....." look away, I'm hideous....." Steve wrote in message news:[email]...

I think also that is was maybe not in the best interest of the show to address topics like communism. However, i think that it is important that the show was not driven to that of younger viewers so i don't think that it impressed upon many young minds which is a good thing.
If you are talking about the episode The Race - (where among other things, Kramer is accused by the children of being a communist) - It was a parody of the McCarthy trials in the USA of the hollywood writers where they too, were accused of being communists and the Hollywood leaders, especially their union leader, did not come to their aid. This episode is also linked to the movie High Noon when the townspeople would not come to the aid of the sheriff when the gunslingers (mccarthy people) were coming for him.. Those writers were blacklisted (Elaine was blacklisted from the chinese restaurant) The High Noon connection (the writer of High noon, was blacklisted) - the confrontational gunfight in the street - the confrontational Seinfeld race in the street. There were many connections to the communist "trials" of the 50's. Kramer as a Santa faking a foreign tongue - a parody of the "materialistic" movie Miracle on 34th street where the Santa seamlessly breaks into Swedish(?) to talk to a little girl. What a great episode this was - very deep, but also funny and even if you missed the analogies there were so many things going on.
No it wasn't anything like that. Nothing obvious at all. The poster suggested that the shallowness of the main characters throughout the entire series represented the shallowness of their whole generation - as if we were supposed to despise what they stood for rather than be simply amused by their lack of substance.
I was just lurking at the time so didn't query the argument. I wish I had now.
great list, except that technically the idea of a car periscope never actually happened, it was just an idea Kramer had in Jerry's imagination. We could also add going to return a pair of pants while wearing the very pants he was returning. And how about the restaurant called P B &J's where all they serve is peanut butter and jelly?
