The Merv Griffin Show - Disappointed again

The only thing good about this ep was the talk show set. Definitely some good laughs there.

The pigeon story started nowhere, and went nowhere. George being attacked by an animal? Too much like The Little Jerry.

The "sidler" was another yet attempt to force a catch phrase down our throats.

The toy stuff was not that bad. I enjoyed it and it shows Jerry's inability to grow up and mature.

They really need to start focusing on reality. And stop trying to cram in 4 complete storylines in one episode. It's must better to have one/two main plots, and then a few subplots. It's really amazing that they've gone from a show that purported to be a reflection of the little things that happen to us in our lives to a show that has no basis in reality whatsoever. It would be ok if it was just as funny, but I think it's clear to most people that there's been a definite decline in laughs.

No one is trying to force catch phrases down your throat...They come up with these terms for the humor of the show which one may or may not find funny, but its up to people whether they use that phrase or not. Nobody's forcing anything on you.

Me too -- I can't believe people have written to express their approval of this episode. The George plotline was really pathetic... I am getting sick of the Girl of the Week for whom he has to do something for he doesnt want to do Most of the laughs were in the Kramer plotline, and I didnt mind the Sidler plot, until it was forced to intersect with the lame Jerry storyline. Overall, I would say it was as bad last week...

"Serenity Now" has been the only episode all season I have really enjoyed

George's plotline pathetic? IMO it was typical George, which was very funny.

It was very funny in "The Little Jerry", it was even more comical in "The Merv Griffin Show". The fact that the pigeons refused to follow the rules, but only with George, was tremendous. Each time the tuft of feathers flew I missed a line or two from laughing so hard. And the touching scene where George confronts the injured squirrel was pure comedy. If George wins the Best Supporting Emmy this year, that will be the scene to look back on.

And they've been doing that for, oh, about 8 and a half years. What makes 'the sidler' so stupid, but 'the puffy shirt' or 'the big salad' so funny?

Another great subplot. Jerry is a child in a man's body, and that's just one of the things that make him so endearing.

Where does this 'start focusing on reality' come from? Why would that want to do that? Is there something inherently wrong with a break from reality? No. Of course not.

Actually, it's a reflection on the little things that happen in the characters' lives, not yours or mine. If they need to get a little silly for a laugh, I can't see anything wrong with that.
