Julia

She was in "Day by Day", as the yuppie friend of a couple who had dropped out of yuppie careers to open a day care center in their home. The husband used to play Joe Kelly on General Hospital, and the wife used to play a reporter (maybe on Lou Grant?).

Their teenage son was obsessed with the college student who worked at the day care center, played by Courtney Thorne-Smith, now of Melrose Place (yeesh, I can't believe I remember all this -- I don't even watch much TV). Julia's character (was her name also Elaine on that show?) served to keep the couple in touch with the yuppie world.

"Day by Day" was only a so-so show, but Julia was great in her part. They had one funny episode where the teenage son spends the whole day watching a Brady Bunch Marathon and then has a nightmare where his family turns into the Brady Bunch -- there were even some BB alum in the dream sequence.

The slick yuppie image was very attractive. Interesting that her rather dumpy image on Seinfeld is still very attractive. Just a great lady.

Anyone know if she has any "fan' handouts, and where one might write to obtain them?

At first you say that you are in love with her...then you call her dumpy. You have a strange way of loving. I fell in love with her on a show which I can also not remember the name of...it may be the same show. I don't remember any yuppie dropouts, but the people that she was friends with had a son who was obsessed with her. It was a dumb show, but she was fantastic.

As far as dumpy goes, I think you are getting her confused with George...or maybe one of Georges parents. George and his parents are dumpy. Julia looks nothing like George or his parents in this respect. And to tell you the truth, I don't know anything about New York, but if her character were in Chicago, she would be considered to be "slick yuppie" looking...not that there is anything wrong with that....

And, how could you call her dumpy?? She is, IMHO, the best thing on Seinfeld (although they are all really good).

That would be "Day by Day". The show filled with sickeningly-sweet little kids by the truckload.

If you like that, you should watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Okay, so who remembers the lovely Julia in "National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation"?! How come nobody seems to remember her from this Chevy Chase pseudo-classic? Julia played the ultra-yuppie suburbanite next door who wore the retro-60's wanna-be-future silver running suit and gawked at 'Clark' a lot. Granted this was a small part, but she was still beautiful back then, just as she is now.

Hi! The name of that show you are referring to is Day by Day which also starred Courtney Thorne-Smith who is now on Melrose Place. Also, the guy who played Joe Kelly on General Hospital and Ben on Knots Landing also starred. Another thing, did anyone see the Match Game show when Jerry Seinfeld was on it?
