Real Seinfeld vs. Tv Seinfeld

I was just wondering how come the Jerry Seinfeld on the TV show is not as famous as the real Jerry Seinfeld. People on the show act like they have never heard of him most of the time, but he has been on the Tonight Show several times on the show. You would think more characters on the show would recognize him as a celebrity instead of just some run of the mill comedian. Also, I happened to catch an old episode of All in the Family yesterday, and Uncle Leo was on it!

Because TV Seinfeld's pilot didn't get picked up!! There is the difference! TV Seinfeld doesn't actually exist! (Except to a few ATS posters!)

I have wondered why people on the show dont know who he is either. I understand that if he was a celebrity on the show and people recognized him all the time, the show would not be as funny, but it would seem that people would know who he is because like you said, he has been on the Tonight Show...
