I recently saw an episode I presume is from the first season. In it, Jerry says to Kramer, "You haven't left the building for ten years." I assume this is true, but why? What changed his ways? He's such a go-getter now.

That was the pilot, The Seinfeld Chronicles. They just had to introduce Kramer as someone who was not "normal". Thankfully, they changed his character.
