Why does Jerry,George,Kramer and Elaine get kicked out from that womans car, when they are going to drive around and look for Kramers car?

Interestingly enough, Jerry was involved in Scientology for a period of time, and since has had nothing but good things to say about the experience. I wonder how he felt when he first read that joke during the first script reading.

Can someone explain this more to me, since I'm not from america and I have no idea who L. Ron Hubbard is or was. What did she have to do with him?

Well I'm no expert on L Ron Hubbard but I assume that since he's the founder of Scientology & this is sort of a belief system or way of life (I will not call it a CULT) is embraced by a number of people, any off the cuff remark about the founder is taken as a great insult by the believers or followers. Therefore when George stuck his foot in his mouth (like he is apt to do) by making some stupid remark about Scientology or Mr Hubbard, Michelle ( the girl giving them a ride) took great offense and kicked them out of the car.

This behavior makes sense when you consider that most non-Scientologist think of it as a cult. So they probably have to deal with a lot of flippant remarks about their believe system. The only think I have against this that once they get your address for sending you "more information" they never get rid of it. I asked them once for a brochure about ten years ago when I lived in Connecticut and they are still sending me stuff. And that was two moves ago. Bill collectors aren't that tenacious! Beyond that, to each his/her own. :)

They had a little fun with that concept too. Remember the Sunshine Carpet Cleaners?

That "Tanya" reference goes way back to the Patty Hearst- SLA kidnapping thing when Ms Hearst was "brainwashed" and took up the name Tanya as her name in the SLA.

L. Ron Hubbard created the trendy religion of "scientology" that many Movie stars are into.
