Dingo ate your baybee?

There was a long thread explaining the incident, maybe you missed it. Well anyway, "Maybe Dingo ate your Baby" was a reference to an incident that took place in the news in reality, where a women reported a baby missing saying a "DIngo "(a wild dog) took her baby. Well anyway, Elaine said this after an annoying guest kept asking where her fiance was(who she referred to as her baby) The incident took place in Australia, which explains Elaines Australian accent.

The line comes from the episode when Jerry, George , and Elaine go to a party on Long Island and Elaine gets trapped with a woman who keeps talking about a baby. Elaine is reffering to the way the woman says "bayybee"

No it isn't. The dingo line refers to a real-life case in Australia - made into a film with Meryl Streep whose name escapes me - in which a mother was tried and, I think, convicted for killing her baby. Her defense was that a wild dingo had stolen her baby. That was a key line in the movie and became a sort of catchphrase among people with dark senses of humor.

Sam Neil played the father. It was a true story of a family (in the 70's) who went camping "downunder" and their baby girl was taken by a Dingo. Meryl Streep who plays the mother is pregnant when she does her time. The movie is called "A Cry in the Dark" I think. Its very sad.

Remarkably, there was a very similar line about a dingo eating someone's baby in last night's Simpsons episode. Must be a fairly well known thing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

.. Lindy Chamberlain. She was convicted of murder but later released after numerous appeals, hearings etc after it was found that a lot of the forensic evidence (blood in the car etc) was VERY dodgy. Last I heard was that Lindy and her husband had divorced.

The movie is called "Evil Angels" in Australia - I don't know why the name is different in Aus. but this is the case for several other movies as well.
