Fans praise Seinfeld's humor, with particular enthusiasm for the masturbation contest episode, while some debate it against Roseanne's quality.
IMHO Roseanne is ANNOYING! Doesn't it figure that she would try to one-up Seinfeld. She has been insanely envious of him from the start. Instead of copying other people's ideas, it might benefit her sagging show to be original once in a while. (please, no flames from all you loyal Roseanne watchers :)

Along with Seinfeld, Roseanne is the funniest sitcom on TV. I don't like the *woman* in real life, but the show is very, very good.
I can't believe I just read through every posting in this group and nothing was said about what personally consider to be the funniest thing I have EVER seen on TV: the masturbation episode! (yes, I realize they never actually *said* it)
My roommate and I laughed right through the commercials without stopping. Especially when George went to visit his mother in the hospital and the nurse started to give the woman next door a sponge-bath....oh, man, I'm laughing just thinking about it. :-D :-D :-D
That's what makes this show great; their willingness to go after stuff everyone else is afraid to touch. Good comedy *must* challenge established norms...or else it isn't comedy, just goofing around. Thank God the humour dead zone of the Super Righteous 80's is over.
BTW this is my 1st post on this group so for all I know you all got totally bored of discussing this episode a long time ago. :-7

Another funny episode was the f**k you episode in which Jerry slips in front of a neigbor's kid. That one got some bad press too.
