Was there an episode that featured a clown singing opera. I'm helping a friend who would like to know what the song was. I thought what better place to start than those who are in the know. Thank you for any help that you can give.

Fans identify the opera episode as featuring Pagliacci with its famous clown aria Vesti la giubba, where Crazy Joe Davola dresses as the sad clown.

the opera referenced is "Pagliacci" by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, first performed in 1892. The famous laugh-clow-laugh aria, which comes at the end of Act I, is titled "Vesti la giubba"

The aria you're thinking of is "Pagliaci" - don't ask me the author, I just know Pavarotti sings it. :)
