Just a personal suspicion: although I have never heard it told this way, I suspect the character of Kenny Banya is a jab at Friends: come to think of it, both are equally intolerable in the same way yet they have their own fan base and appreciation by big networks.
I donno, just my personal opinion here: that show never got a single laugh from me - not even a smile: I can never stand more than a couple senseless audience laughs before I switch channel.

Ive no idea about your theory. But just to add to the thread I hate Friends but I do like Kenny. To me every one of the supporting cast is perfect in their role. The only person who annoys me slightly is Elaine, but the show wouldnt be the same without her. Btw I think she is gorgeous these days. thanks cya

Friends was once scheduled after Seinfeld, but only in the spring of season 7.
