I can't believe the negative responces to the finale. Of course, 5 minutes after your favorite show of all time ends you're not going to be happy about it. I thought the episode was hilarious, simply because I THINK I know what Larry David was trying to say. I'm quite sure the trial was only a means to show what the media and "tv experts" have been critizing Seinfeld for: You always hear people say "These people are terrible", "how can I like a show that revolves around people like this?", "it's a stupid show about nothing." Larry David is basically saying NO SHIT!!!!!!! Of course these people are terrible. Of course they talked about stupid things. I thought this was a great slap in the face to all the critics of Seinfeld.

But I'm being hypocritical. Like I said, just take a night and sleep on it. And if tomorrow you honestly don't like it don't forget that the entire run of a show isn't based on one of 170 episodes, but a culmination thereof.

On a side note, I thought the ketchup bit was hilarious.

I did, and still came away disappointed. Oh, it was good, but not so much as it should have been.

In fact, in all fairness, maybe the tone of the show itself added to it. I once heard an argument about the film "Rain Man", that since Dustin Hoffman's autistic character isn't emotional, it made the movie seem anti-climatic. Same thing apparently here, with the message that these people will survive a near-death on a plane and a year in prison--and STILL never change.

I've already posted about the pointless near-death experience on the plane, but now that I read this (in that weak show's defense), maybe the experience does have a small point: Even after just surviving the near-death, they're still as callous as ever.

Kind of reminds me of a Three Stooges film in which Moe mistakenly thinks that Larry was killed. He says, "Oh, poor Larry. If I could have him back, I would never hit him again!" The next moment, Larry appears, and Moe slaps him.

Whatever happened in the 3 Stooges final episode?

Woody Allen's characters aren't all that great. But there are still lots of funny lines. Just because the main characters aren't admirable is no excuse for a lack of good writing.
