It might work. But it wouldn't be as good as "Seinfeld," and inevitably, everyone will compare it to "Seinfeld."
"Archie Bunker's Place" would have been hailed as a great show, if "All in the Family" had never existed.

Norm and Cliff were extremely popular on "Cheers" and so far have not been able to be successful past that. Of course, unlike "Frasier" or "Rhoda", "Maude", et. al., they did not carry their established character into a new series. Unless they waited a looooooong time like Kirstie did.
I would think that George and Kramer would have the same problem.
