Fans loved The Subway episode, praising the nude passenger scene, George's line about brokerage firms hurting his father's feelings, Elaine's anxious counting, and the lesbian wedding exchange.
Last night was the first time that I have seen "The Subway". It was hilarious! I especially liked how all the people in Jerry's subway car were stacked against the far side of it when the nude guy was nude. But easily the best part of the episode was:
"Big Brokerage firms killed my father...well they hurt him bad...really, hurt his feelings."
Must have watched that about 5 times on the tape. Riotous.

Yes! it was a riot! I also enjoyed then Elaine's subway got stuck, she thought, "I can't breathe, ... that guy smells, ... Maybe if I count to 5 it will start to move... 1...2...3....4....5 ....Sh*T..." It was so real. Also I love all that subway announcements made during transit station where everyone got off -- it's so true, noone ever understand what the hell the New York Subway conductors are talking about.
"Should I take my cloth off?... If I did and she doesn't, that could be embrassing, but what if she did and I didn't....I got it, I'll take my shoes off and sit on the bed to be comfortable...."

Elaine's expression at the moment she says "I'm the best man" is absolutely priceless.
I also loved what happened to George in the hotel room. A brilliant turn. As was the beggar turning out to be a police officer.
I wonder if there are other shows that had this much of the humor dependant on the plot, that I just can't remember at present. Seinfeld depends primarily on near-constant character development (successfully) for much of its humor. The situations, the dialog and etc are of primary importance and the plot of the show almost becomes a mere vehicle.

The best line had to be during Jerry's standup routine at the very end of the show:
He was talking about going to Coney Island. It went something like:
"So I rode on the subway for an hour and a half to go OOONNNN a scary ride."

And what really cracked me up was Kramer's pavane of elegance as he tried for a seat on the subway. Good physical comedy!
