I have been irritated in the past by Seinfeld's refusal to carry a minor character or newly-discovered character quirk (Kramer's Mary Hart thing) thru more than one episode, but this week I found something unpardonable. At the end ofthe episode I think it's called The Race, Jerry is hugging his girlfriend Lois and winking at the camera, and in the next episode she is gone. poof.

Why must a sitcom have continuity?

Probably the same thing that happens to every woman Jerry dates -- she wised up and dumped him. Let's face it, no one on that show is capable of sustaining any kind of long-term relationship. George and Susan came the closest to having and LTR, and look how they had to get rid of her!

BTW, IMHO they HAD to kill Susan off. It was the only way to get George out of the marriage. I think they (the writers) decided the only way out of this relationship was death, and they couldn't kill off George.

Just my two cents worth . . .
